🛣️ Daily joke

The robotaxi driver was fired for being too sensitive. Every time the passenger complained about the ride, it felt personally attacked.

📜 Daily poem

The Rumble Strip Blues

Concrete seams and orange cones, Chassis rattles, motor groans. A rhythmic thrum, a heavy beat, As asphalt shifts beneath the seat. Through gravel dust and uneven ground, The uneven song is the only sound.

🔭 Scientist spotlight

Rodney Brooks Born 1954 · Robotics and Artificial Intelligence

Rodney Brooks is a pioneer in the field of robotics, best known for his 'subsumption architecture' which allows robots to react to their environment without complex, centralized reasoning. He was a co-founder of iRobot, the company behind the Roomba, and also helped found the MIT Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence Laboratory. His work fundamentally shifted how engineers approach autonomous behavior by focusing on simple, reactive interactions with the physical world.

The Rhythm of Numbers

Periodicity in sequences occurs when a pattern of numbers repeats itself at regular intervals. For example, in the decimal expansion of a fraction like 1/7, the digits (142857) repeat indefinitely, creating a predictable, rhythmic loop that allows mathematicians to study long-term stability in complex systems.
